CloudMonitor has a lot of reports because cost questions come in a lot of shapes. This page is the
shortcut: find your question, open that screen.

## Three habits that make all of them easier

**Set your filters first.** The date range, provider, cost group and virtual tags at the top apply to
every report at once. Set them, then navigate — don't navigate and then wonder why the numbers

**Read the ⓘ.** Every report title has one. It says what the screen is for and where its numbers come
from, in a sentence, written by the people who built it.

**Learn the table once.** Grouping, drilling and saved views work identically everywhere. See
[working with tables](/docs/using-cloudmonitor/tables-and-charts/).

## Two kinds of screen

It's worth knowing which you're looking at, because they behave differently.

**Cost reports** — the Ledger, Cost by…, Explorer, Cost Groups, Commitments — show money over a
period. They honor the date range and the cost basis.

**Finding reports** — Anomalies, Savings & Waste, WAF Recommendations — show things CloudMonitor
thinks you should look at. A finding has no date range of its own, so the Period filter doesn't apply
and CloudMonitor hides it rather than pretending. They share one triage workflow: comment and
reassign, postpone, dismiss with a reason, or reopen.

Nothing in CloudMonitor is marked complete by hand. Findings close themselves when the underlying
situation clears.
