Enable the Reservations / RI feature

Tip

To enable the RI feature in CloudMonitor you have to add the CloudMonitor service principal you created as a “Reservation Reader” at the Tenancy level so that it can see all reservations. This is not done at the Subscription level. You can also read the official Microsoft guides here.

Tip

Note: User Access Administrator rights are required before you can grant users or groups the Reservations Reader roles at the tenant level. In order to get User Access Administrator rights at the tenant level, follow Elevate access steps (You will not be able to assign the role without this step).

Step 1

Open the “Reservations” section in your Azure Portal.

Step 2

Click “Role Assignment” (See the step above if this is greyed out regarding elevated User Access Administrator).

Step 3

Click ” + Add” and “Add role assignment”

Step 4

Select the “Reservations Reader” role and click on “Next” (This role cannot write or change any information).

Step 5

Click on “Select members”

Step 6

Type in the name of the CloudMonitor Service that you created when you installed CloudMonitor and select it.

Step 7

Click on “Select”.

Step 8

Click “Review + assign”.

Tip

You have successfully added access to Reservations/RI for CloudMonitor.
